National Aerospace NDT Boards have been formed in many countries around the world as a direct result of European Aerospace Safety Agency (EASA) regulation part 145, which mandates the implementation of European Standard EN 4179 (Aerospace series – qualification and approval of personnel and ATO approved training organizations for non-destructive testing) by maintenance organisations subject to the regulation. EN 4179 describes a National Aerospace NDT Board as:
"an independent national aerospace organisation, representing a nation's aerospace industry, that is chartered by the participating prime contractors and recognised by the nation's regulatory agencies to provide or support NDT qualification and examination services in accordance with this standard."
The Netherlands Aerospace NDT Board (NANDTB) has been instated to monitor and supervise the compliance of EASA requirements regarding the certification of NDT Level 3 personnel in the aerospace industry as per EN4179. The NANDTB is recognized by the Human Evironment and Transport Inspectorate of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
Board and committees
During the initial meetings, representatives of the industry and CAA-NL have decided to form a National Aerospace NDT Board. This decision was based on the EASA requirements to comply with EN4179, and the preferred choice over the use of an existing NANDTB from one of the other EASA-countries. The members of the Board are elected by attendees representing their company in the Aerospace industry. The Board consists of:
- John Linnemeijer, NDT Level 3 Engineer, TiaT Europe (Chairman)
- Roland van Gijzel, Level 3 Expert and Radiation Protection Expert, Applus+ RTD (Treasurer)
